Introduction:

Earache:

Pain in the ear. This can occur because of conditions within the ear itself, the ear canal, or the visible external portion of the ear.

Ear infections are the most common cause of ear pain. When the ear becomes infected, inflammation and buildup of pressure cause pain that can be intense.

There are many causes of an earache.

Swimmer’s Ear

This condition is appropriately named because it sometimes occurs in swimmers. It is caused when water that has bacteria or other germs in it becomes trapped in the outer part of the ear. Characteristics of this infection include a red outer ear which may be dry and flaky.

Fluid in the Ear

Fluid in the ear is a fairly common condition that can be present with or without an earache. It can be caused by an ear infection or a blockage of the auditory tube.

Ruptured Eardrum

This condition can be caused by any of the above conditions and also as a result of very loud noise such as a gunshot. Symptoms of an eardrum may include:

• severe pain, which may suddenly subside
• ear drainage
• sudden hearing loss
• dizziness

Common ear problems are otitis, otitis externa, ear wax, bacterial infection and deafness. Masood’s HR 59 relieves the pain, itching and congestion associated with earache.

Pharmacology:

HR 59 reduces the inflammation of the ear, usually distinguished as otitis externa (of the passage of the outer ear), otitis media (of the middle ear), and otitis interna (of the inner ear; labyrinthitis).This is due to Pseudomonas aeruginosa, followed by a great number of other gram-positive and gram-negative species.Candida albicans and Aspergillus species are the most common fungal pathogens responsible for the condition. HR 59 specifically contains Allium Sativa(antibacterial), Calendula Off( anti-inflammatory), Echinacea Ang (immunomodulator), Hypericmum Perf (antisecretory), Verbascum Thap ( as an astringent and emollient, as it contains mucilage, several saponins, coumarin and glycosides). HR 59 reduces pain and swelling (inflammation) and treats poorly healing wounds. HR 59 contains active constituents hyperforin and they induce noncompetitive reuptake inhibition of monoamines(specifically, dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin), GABA, and glutamate when they activate this ion channel. Hyperforin is also an anti inflammatory compound with anti-angiogenic, antibiotic, and neurotrophic properties. Hyperforin also has an antagonistic effect on NMDA receptors, a type of glutamate receptor. Moreover, HR 59 down regulate the β1 adrenoceptor and upregulate postsynaptic 5-HT1A and 5-HT2A receptors, both of which are a type of serotonin receptor, thus produce antidepressant effects. HR 59 contains Allium sativa in which alliin, allinase, allicin are antiseptic, antispasmodic, cholagogue, diaphoretic, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge, stimulant, stomachic, tonic and vasodilator, Garlic is very helpful in cases of bacterial and fungal infections. It can be helpful in cases of ringworms, candida, and pseudomonas, thus it prevents the ear infection.
