Introductions:

Headache:a pain in the head with the pain being above the eyes or the ears, behind the head (occipital), or in the back of the upper neck. Headache can be a sign of stress or emotional distress, or it can result from a medical disorder.

The International Headache Society (IHS) categorize headaches as primary when they are not caused by another condition, or secondary when there is a further underlying cause.

Primary headaches:

Aprimary headacheis caused by overactivity of or problems with pain-sensitive structures in the head. This includes the blood vessels, muscles, and nerves of the head and neck. They may also result from changes in chemical activity in the brain.

Common primary headaches include migraines, cluster headaches, and tension headaches.

Secondary headaches:

Secondary headachesare symptoms that happen when another condition stimulates the pain-sensitive nerves of the head. In other words, headache symptoms can be attributed to another cause.

A wide range of different factors can cause secondary headaches.

These include:

• Alcohol-induced hangover
• Brain tumor
• Blood clots
• Concussion
• Dehydration
• Glaucoma
• Teeth-grinding at night
• Influenza
• Overuse of medication

Types:

There are different types of headache, most common are

Migraines:

A migraine headache may cause a pulsating, throbbing pain usually only on one side of the head. The aching may be accompanied by:

• Blurred vision
• Light-headedness
• Nausea
• Sensory disturbances are known as auras

Tension Headaches:

Tension headaches are the most common type of headache among adults and teens. They cause mild to moderate pain and come and go over time. They usually have no other symptoms.

Cluster headaches:

Cluster headaches usually last between 15 minutes and 3 hours, and they occur suddenly once per day up to eight times per day for a period of weeks to months. In between clusters, there may be no headache symptoms, and this headache-free period can last months to years.

The pain caused by cluster headaches is:

• One-sided
• Severe
• Often described as sharp or burning
• Typically located in or around one eye

Headaches can be associated with symptoms such as;

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Pain in the eyes when looking into bright lights (photophobia)
• Dizziness
• Vertigo
• Tenderness of the scalp
• Tightness sensation in the head

Indications:

Headache is not a disease itself .headache is a nonspecific symptom that has many possible causes. Headache is may be due to constipation, stress, depression, anxiety, bad posture, food allergy, indigestion, hormonal distress, nervous weakness, flu and cold. Masood HR 9 is a quick and fast relief for headaches.

Pharmacology:

HR 9 has anti-anxiety, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving activities due to the presence of belladonna, colocynthis and Damiana. HR 9 is a Nerve tonic, anti-depressant, urinary antiseptic, and laxative. Damiana is an excellent strengthening remedy for the nervous system. It has a definite tonic action on the central nervous and the hormonal system. As a useful anti-depressant, HR 9 may consider being as specific in cases of anxiety and depression where there is a sexual factor. It may be used to strengthen the male sexual system.

• Chionanthus Virg 1D 13% v/v
• Colocynthis 6D 6.5% v/v
• Damiana 1D 13% v/v
• Salix Nigra 1D 13% v/v
• Scutellaria Lat 1D 13% v/v
• Tanacetum Prath 1D 13% v/v
• Zingiber off 1D 13% v/v

With excipients q.s.

Formula with properties:

Belladonna 6D:Vertigo, with falling to left side or backwards. Pain; fullness, especially in forehead, also occiput, and temples. Headache from suppressed catarrhal flow. Pain worse light, noise, jar, lying down and in afternoon.

Chionanthus Virg 1D:This remedy is often of service in many types of headaches, Neurasthenic, Periodical sick, Menstrual bilious.

Colocynthis 6D:Frontal headache; worse, stooping, lying on back, and moving eyelids. Pains are sharp, boring burning.

Damiana 1D:Headache due to physical weakness and exertion.

Salix Nigra 1D:Roots of hair hurt. Face Red, swollen, especially the end of nose.

Scutellaria Lat 1D:Dull, frontal headache. Eyes feel pressed outwards. Flushed face. Migraine; worse, over right eye; aching in eyeballs. Nervous sick headaches, worse noise, odor light.

Tanacetum Prath 1D:Head heavy, dull, mental fatigue, nausea and vertigo, worse in a closed room.

Zingiber off 1D:Hemicrania; sudden glimmering before eyes; feels confused and empty. Pain over eyebrows.
